Personal Weaponry
Though not the main focus of Axiom Aerospace from the start, the corporation still has needs, and like any other, those needs are coin. Both the killer and the killed need to arm themselves, and the few forays into weapons development Axiom has allowed itself have been focused on leveling the playing field between those dressed to survive and those dressed to live.
Light Pistol ~~ Alkh'en-Staatz Mirko-Divellek Colliquan – Reporting name; ASMD Autopistol
The ASMD Autopistol was originally devised as a light, suppressive-fire capable sidearm for Del'Hxar combat units. Unfortunately, the low damage output of the weapon lead to it being derisively referred to as a 'red, thin flashlight' by military personnel. However, with a shift in marketing strategy, the ASMD was easily sold in large numbers as personal defense weapons for those worried about what may hide in the alleys of the cities and stations. The criminal element was quick to catch on to this low-power, low-emission weapon, happily inviting those on their bad side to come 'And Suck My Dick'.
- Damage; Energy 20S
- Clip; Thirty-Round Thermal
- Firing Modes; Three-Round Burst, Full-Auto
Sniper Rifle ~~ Mirko-Chauss – Translation; Saint's Wrath/Reporting Name; Longinus
The Longinus was created as part of a personal project by the weapons engineer DATA EXPUNGED, during downtime between M3-5 design in the years before the Ark's launch. First conceived as a 'shock and awe' sniping weapon, the Longinus operates by ionization – The weapon traces a weak targeting laser when armed, and once the trigger is pulled, it ionizes the air, using the laser as its conduit, functionally firing a bolt of lightning from the weapon to its target. Though this technology proved wondrous in taking down the electronic shielding used in local space, its performance against unshielded targets is lackluster. To make up for this, snipers carrying the Longinus as part of their loadout can overcharge the targeting laser to deliver damage directly. Though not the weapon's intended use and mildly ruinous to the weapon in question, this technique has proven invaluable when there was simply not time to change weaponry, and a sniper's life rest on the edge of a coin.
- Damage; Energy 90El/Energy 60S
- Clip; Twenty-Round Thermal/Five-Round Internal Thermal (.5 Recharge)
- Firing Modes; Semiautomatic
"Light Machinegun" ~~ V'ehk-Chronn – Translation: Hell's Breath/Reporting Name: Chimera
Born of complaints regarding the Longinus, the Chimera is a weapon designed to thrive where the Longinus cannot. Loading canisters of varied chemicals, the Chimera sprays a cone of acid, flame, or nitroglycerine depending on how the chemicals are mixed. Each set of canisters is mounted by an internal mechanism and serviced at specialized stations; in an effort to keep the weapon's downtime to a minimum, the chemicals are compressed using technology similar to the space compression of local cargo bay tech, leaving its operator only to worry about the status of the thermal clip regulating the extremely varied temperatures the weapon produces. One major downside of the Chimera is, as a result of its specialized nature and the complicated technology involved in its ammunition supply, the weapon is very expensive. Also of note is the awkward nature of the thermal clip and weapon supplies – the weapon has a very hard time changing its output when the internal heatsink hasn't cooled enough; Unless the internal clip is completely cooled, utilizing the altfire is a full action as the clip must be exposed to open air and allowed to vent its excess heat before the weapon can be fired in its now-primary firing mode. As a safety feature, the weapon will not fire after utilizing altfire unless the clip has had the chance to cool down – either through being exposed to open air, or being given time to cool down normally.
- Damage; Fire 35/Acid 30/Cold 25
- Clip; 75iT(5)/50iT(5)/100iT(5)
- Firing Mode; Full-auto
Launcher ~~ Nellek Traas – Translation: Splitting Meteor/Reporting Name: Taurus
The Taurus is a new weapons design, developed after the weapons engineer DATA EXPUNGED began a research project on the weapons and armament of the Sol system – or, more to the point, Earth – throughout history. Upon learning of the break-barrel kinetic weapons from days of yore, and discovering the design still quite popular and utilitarian, DATA EXPUNGED set out to develop a similar system. The end result was the Taurus grenade launcher. Based loosely on the ancient Terran M70, the weapon sports an over/under double-barreled design meant to deliver different explosive charges in quick succession to a single target with multiple layers of defense. The stock model loads Axiom's own kinetic and energy-based explosive charges, but in theory the weapon could fire any rimfire-style explosive charge loaded into it.
